Karen & Graeme’s Wedding

We shot this wedding out in Sydney’s west, and there are some great locations for photography out there. We took a few shots outside the church, in a nearby paddock/vineyard area and then some around the reception venue itself – the stunning Eschol Park. PS – If anyone is planning on getting married at that venue – we’d love to shoot there again ;)

Love that there’s a cow in the background!

Great old building behind the church

Karen & Graeme’s engagement

Karen & Graeme

Lovely couple who mosey’d on over to our local (Pyrmont), for their engagement shoot. They were happy to try any of our suggestions and it was a great introduction for us and them before their wedding shoot a few weeks later. Thanks guys – we had a great time!

Brooke & Jarrad’s wedding

Yet another beach wedding with a ceremony at St. Ignatius college and the weather was absolutely perfect for it. A mild 26 degrees celcius in summer and just the right amount of sun.

Brooke and Jarrad made the day’s shooting a breeze and I enjoyed the day immensely. The almost Tiffany blue of the bridesmaid dresses gave the wedding a nice classic feel and it was wonderful seeing everyone dressed up for the black tie theme.

Lovely couple, lovely day just about sums it up :)

Lisa’s engagement shoot

This was a pre-wedding shoot with one of the most fun couples I’ve ever had the chance to shoot. They were also incredibly comfortable in front of the camera which made my job easy.

Shot up at Balmoral beach the lighting conditions were a bit tricky (cloudy/then sunny/then heaps of glare) but we had a few hours to play with so wasn’t really an issue.

Alice & Stewarts wedding

Whew! So, the last post was a while ago, and I’ve got a backlog of weddings i’d like to share with everyone.

First off the mark is Alice and Stewarts wedding. They got married at St. Ignatius College in Riverview and had the reception in gorgeous Balmoral Beach (where I have promised myself I will spend the day one time this summer – just to relax and enjoy it!).

Alice had chosen a beautiful contrasting purple for her bridesmaid dresses which really popped out in the shots, and had gorgeous bouquets of peonies.

PS – a big thankyou to Alice for being a trooper (despite almost gale force winds) and heading for shots near the water.

Random shoots done in the last 6 months or so…

This blog is feeling a bit wedding heavy, so I thought I’d put up a selection of shoots I’ve done over the last six months. Some of these are just of myself and my fiancee mucking around and were done with a proper set up (including soft boxes), there are a few from a magazine shoot I did and one that is just natural lighting.

Stay tuned for a selection of pics from a magazine shoot done in the last week (3 mags shot in 2 days up on the Gold Coast with animals and children … )

Casey & Scott’s Wedding

After what seemed like a few endless weeks of rain, the clouds parted on Casey & Scott’s special day so that their ceremony held in the Chinese Gardens in Darling Harbour wasn’t washed out. The truth is I’d actually been hoping for some cloud cover so that I could avoid harsh direct sunlight, but beggars can’t be choosers and we were lucky that it didn’t just pour.

So after taking some preparation photos at the bride’s parents’ house in the shire (and a frantic car-ride back into the city attempting to avoid traffic) I managed to snag 10 minutes or so to meet and greet the boys and check out the venue properly. You’d never know from the outside what a gorgeous little sanctuary the Chinese Gardens are in the middle of the city.

After one of the quickest ceremonies in history (I wasn’t timing it, but felt like about five minutes) we whizzed through the family photos and into the bridal party shots. I was really keen to keep it as natural and laidback as possible, so I kind of just let everyone wander through the gardens and asked them to stop every so often.

The biggest hiccup of the day was actually the fact that my fiancee/assistant is also named Cassey (different spelling, same pronunciation), so as I was yelling out for different lenses I actually almost made the bride hop-to-it (sorry Bride-Casey!).

Friends of the bride had actually offered their boat as our transport from the harbour over to the venue in Walsh Bay which provided a unique opportunity to get some wedding shots on the harbour. A big thanks have to go to the bridal party (and the nervous bride), for actually clamboring up onto the front of the boat to get some fun shots.

PS – See if you can pick the photo bomber in one of the shots below, once you see them, you can’t ignore it!
